How-to guide
How to remove drums from a song
Whether you need a drumless backing track for practice, a click-free mix for re-drumming, or you just want to hear the song without the beat — DrumSplit strips out the entire drum kit and gives you a clean music track in minutes.
DrumSplit does not just mute the drums — it isolates every kit piece individually (kick, snare, hi-hats, toms, cymbals) AND produces a drumless music track. Competitors give you one combined drum stem. DrumSplit gives you six outputs from a single upload.
Step-by-step
- Open DrumSplit.io. Go to drumsplit.io in any modern browser. No account or install is required to start.
- Drag your audio file onto the upload area. Drop any MP3, WAV, FLAC, M4A, AIFF or OGG file up to 100 MB. Pick Natural mode for acoustic drums, Puncher for EDM or hip-hop, or Direct to split an already-isolated drum track.
- Pay for the split. A single split is $0.99. Buying a 10-pack drops the price to $0.50 per split. Credits are shared across all MusicSplit tools and never expire.
- Wait 2-3 minutes. The AI separator runs on a GPU and returns 6 stems: kick, snare, hi-hats, toms, cymbals and a drumless music track. Most songs finish in under 3 minutes.
- Download the stems. Grab the zip with all 6 WAV files. The download link stays live for 24 hours and is also emailed to you. Use the drumless track for practice or the individual stems for remixing.
Tips for better results
- Use the highest quality source you can find — 320 kbps MP3 or lossless WAV/FLAC produces noticeably cleaner stems than 128 kbps.
- Natural mode is best for live acoustic drums, Puncher mode for programmed beats and 808s, Direct mode when you already have an isolated drum bus.
- The drumless music track preserves vocals, bass, guitars and synths intact — ready for re-drumming or practice.
