How to create a drumless practice track

Drummers learn fastest by playing along with real recordings, but finding drumless versions of the songs you want to practice is nearly impossible. DrumSplit makes one from any song in 2-3 minutes — the entire kit disappears, and the rest of the music stays.

The drumless track from DrumSplit is not just a frequency-filtered version of the original. The AI identifies and removes each kit piece individually, which means the bass, guitars, vocals and synths stay completely intact without the hollow sound you get from EQ-based drum removal.

Step-by-step

  1. Pick a song you want to practice to. Source the highest quality version you can — a WAV or FLAC from your music library, or a 320 kbps MP3.
  2. Open DrumSplit.io and upload the track. Drag the file onto the upload area. Any common audio format works. Up to 100 MB.
  3. Choose Natural mode. For practice tracks, Natural mode gives the cleanest drum removal on most recorded music. Use Puncher for EDM and hip-hop.
  4. Pay and wait 2-3 minutes. $0.99 for one split. Buy a 10-pack at $4.99 if you are building a whole practice setlist.
  5. Download the drumless track. The drumless music track is one of the 6 files in the zip. Import it into your DAW, phone or practice app and play along.
