How to remove drums from a FLAC file

FLAC gives you lossless compression at about half the size of WAV, which means you can fit longer tracks under DrumSplit's 100 MB limit without sacrificing quality. It is the ideal source format for audiophile-grade drum separation.

DrumSplit accepts FLAC directly — no need to convert to WAV first. The decoder runs on the server and all output stems come back as lossless 24-bit WAV.

Step-by-step

  1. Open DrumSplit.io. Works in Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge.
  2. Upload your FLAC file. Files up to 100 MB. At FLAC compression, this covers roughly 30+ minutes of CD-quality audio.
  3. Select your separation mode. Natural for most music, Puncher for heavy electronic production, Direct for pre-isolated drums.
  4. Wait 2-3 minutes. FLAC processes at the same speed as other formats once decoded on the server.
  5. Download the stems. 6 lossless 24-bit WAV files: kick, snare, hi-hats, toms, cymbals and drumless music.
